ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS

 

As we get older, our faces are likely to show the effects of time. Whether it is from simply laughing and frowning, or smoking and sun damage, our faces are prone to showing fine lines and wrinkles.

Wrinkles cause creases in the dynamic areas of the face, particularly around the eyes and in the forehead and frown area. They can create a tired and stressed appearance, and is an attributable sign of ageing.

Botox® is the leading brand of Botulinum toxin A, and is the name most commonly recognised with muscle relaxant or anti-wrinkle injections. Botulinum Toxin works by blocking the nerve impulses from stimulating the muscle and, as a result, the muscle relaxes and wrinkles diminish.

Anti-wrinkle injections are an affordable, non-invasive treatment which allow us to target specific areas on the face to help relax muscles and reduce fine lines and wrinkles, resulting in a fresh-faced, more youthful appearance.

The treatment is not permanent, so patients should anticipate re-treatments every few months to prevent further wrinkles from appearing, though each injection should also reduce the depth of newer wrinkles. In this respect, Botox® can also be used preventatively, to delay the appearance of wrinkles.

Botox® has been used since 1980 to treat a number of muscle disorders. As well as its therapeutic use for relaxing muscles in the face it can also be used to treat migraines and excessive sweating.
